Honoring Our Queen

September 3, 2025

We honor the birthday of Queen Liliʻuokalani, born on September 2, 1838, the last reigning monarch of the Hawaiian Kingdom and a symbol of resilience, dignity, and aloha.

Queen Liliʻuokalani was a gifted composer, author, and devoted leader who sought peace and justice for her people during a time of great political upheaval. Her steadfast commitment to Hawaiian sovereignty and her deep love for her people continue to inspire generations.

As we reflect on her legacy, let us remember her famous words:
"E ʻonipaʻa i ka ʻimi naʻauao."
Be steadfast in the seeking of knowledge.

We encourage everyone to take a moment to learn more about her life, listen to her music, especially “Aloha ʻOe”—and reflect on the enduring strength of Hawaiian culture and identity.

E ola ko kākou Mōʻī Wahine Liliʻuokalani!
